Web Episodic Track

Episodic Content on the web is the future of the "film industry".

It seems evident that the largest content creation explosion of the next ten years will be on the web.

As a result in rapid shifts in production and distribution in the film industry, content creation and distribution is increasingly being hosted and in many cases, lives exclusively on the web.

In the last quarter of 2010, YouTube made its move to acquire an original content production company, Next New Networks, expanding into the field of creating original content for the web. According to film finance expert Jeff Steele, YouTube is reacting to this:

"If Netflix, Hulu, and the national cable operators (through their new Vutopia VOD service) are anything like the Googles, Yahoos, and Microsofts of the world, then they will not allow themselves to be outdone and will each have to make their own moves in this direction. The gravitational force of one-upmanship is just too strong to resist these days, especially with Wall Street expectations breathing down their necks."

BDFI graduates recently placed in the semifinals of the New York Television Festival, a festival dedicated to web episodic pilot productions.

Berkeley Digital will continue to adapt our curriculum to meet the needs of content creation for this unrelenting trend.
