Approximately 20% of our students pursue the Narrative Fiction Producing Track.
The Producing Track consists of four semesters of producing, during which time the producer candidates will produce somewhere between 10 and 30 films for their classmates, depending upon their personal tastes and choices in projects to produce.
Producers are taught in the same classrooms as directors during all 4 semesters, so they can be exposed to all of the creative decision-making processes and elements a producer will be handling in preproduction, on set, postproduction, and distribution.
The producing track is taught with best practices: of the Los Angeles style in mind, so that producers may either move to Los Angeles fully prepared for work there, or stay in the Bay Area to pursue production here.
Faculty for the Producing Track are graduates of The American Film Institute as well as solo producers of over 50 Bay Area Independent feature films, and have participated as invited participants in the Sundance Writing, Producing, and Directing workshops.
Current faculty members (2010) have taken their own films to Sundance 6 times.
