Casting Lecture

Patrick Kriwanek asked me to lecture first semester students on the BDFI casting process a few weeks prior to their first shoot. I was honored and pleased to do this. I sat down to draft my outline and was amazed at how much I knew about casting excellence. All that I learned from Patrick Kriwanek in Producing/Directing 1, 2 and 3 as well as from Marty Pistone (Producing/Directing 1) and Melissa Hillman (Acting 1) poured out onto the page. I enjoyed meeting the class and had so much fun briefing them on the BDFI Way of casting and treating actors.
I stuck around on break and did an impromptu Q&A on location scouting. Most of the info I had to give came from my direct experience on shoots with Quinn, Eric, Gina, Rob, Kate and Karen. Marty Pistone’s location scout lecture was a huge influence too. I ended looking forward to working with these new BDFI students.
